Now that we are a couple of months removed, I want to reflect one more time on the huge success of our joint annual conference. We had record breaking attendance, with 436 in-person and 71 virtual attendees, for a total of 507! Thanks to the overwhelming financial support of our sponsors and state affiliate boards, the planning committee was able to secure three incredible keynote speakers to highlight the 13 hours of education sessions. We were also able to organize a few excursions to spotlight the Grand Rapids area and Michigan’s “west coast”. Thank you to the attendees, sponsors, state affiliates, APT US&C and MMTA boards of directors, and planning committee for making it all happen. To close out 2026, we have our Treasurer Toolkit Series lineup set and ready to go. First up was our Working With BS&A Cloud session on October 6. If you missed the live session, don’t worry…you can still register and view the recording. Second, we have Don’t Overlook Your Investments! on November 10. To wrap up the series, we have Building Your AI Skills on December 3. To register and view the details for each session, visit the MMTA website. We also have two more Treasurer-to-Treasurer panels scheduled for November 18 and December 9. Join for one or both sessions as we discuss timely topics and get your questions answered live or even answer a question or two yourself. Looking ahead to 2027, Winter Workshop is right around the corner. The planning committee met recently and have a great slate of education in store for attendees on January 20-21. Registration will open soon and we look forward to seeing you in-person or virtually. Finally, I’d like to thank Julie Pray for her time as MMTA President. We had fantastic year under her leadership and I’m looking forward to working with her and the rest of the board as we strive to provide MMTA members with top-tier education, resources, and networking opportunities. As some of you may know, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and Office Space is one of my favorite movies. So, enjoy this photo from a few years ago when those two worlds collided. I hope everyone made it through summer property tax season unscathed. This was my first with the City of Portage and much busier than what I’m used to. Fortunately, the treasury team here runs a tight ship, and we made it through with only few minor bumps and bruises.
